San Antonio to Restore Historic Alamo Plaza with New Visitor Experience

SAN ANTONIO, TX — The Alamo is getting a bold refresh. Local officials announced a multi-year improvement plan that will restore historic structures, expand museum exhibits, and create additional shaded gathering areas for visitors.
Tourism experts say the project will deepen the storytelling of the famous 1836 battle while making the plaza more accessible for families and school groups. Construction is slated to begin this fall, with phased openings through 2027.
